Getting Around

CityPlace, an Italian-inspired, mixed-use project that's home to more than 80 shops, 20 restaurants, 20-screen Muvico cinema and a 1920s church adapted to serve as a multi-purpose cultural center. Visitors can travel between both districts via a free trolley service that's become one of Downtown's most popular attractions.

The Historic Clematis District is the backbone of the city. It offers a creative, funky, eclectic mix of restaurants and shops, plus more than 10,000 residences, live/work lofts and luxury condominiums. Dining is an international experience where patrons may sample flavors from around the world while stores are a mix of national brands and homegrown favorites.

Downtown West Palm Beach is home to two a retail and entertainment district – CityPlace and the Clematis Street District. These vibrant pieces of the city are lined with fashionable martini bars, trendy nightclubs, elite boutiques, and fine dining establishments. When the sun sets on West Palm Beach, you can indulge the most epicurean of tastes by candlelight at one of the many lovely restaurants.

Every Thursday evening, downtown’s already animated nightlife offers even more in the way of exciting entertainment with the award winning, Clematis by Night free fountainside concert series. While there, visitors and locals have the opportunity to mingle among arts and crafts vendors, while enjoying the live entertainment.

If you have an interest in the theater and the performing arts, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is the premier location to spend an evening. For museum enthusiasts, the Norton Museum of Art houses a world-renowned collection of European, American, Chinese and contemporary art.

For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, the city’s teeming waterfront offers a walkways and fantastic views of Palm Beach and other surrounding cities. On the city’s western edge, one can hike, bike, and get a view of the Florida Everglades up close at Grassy Waters Preserve.

The city radiates extraordinary natural beauty in its environmentally sensitive lands to the west and its urban waterfront to the east running six miles along Flagler Drive. Its position on the Intra-coastal Waterway, across from the island of Palm Beach, provides the added benefit of cool ocean breezes all year long.

West Palm Beach is a city of celebrations, many featured along our waterfront. The City’s waterfront is home to well over 100 events annually. The City’s mile-long downtown waterfront runs parallel to the Intracoastal Waterway.

Take the Trolley from CityPlace to downtown Clematis Street's restaurants, shopping, theatre, waterfront, library, Saturday Green Market, New Waterfront Park events, Thursday evening Clematis by Night concerts and Diva Duck Amphibious Tours. Book a cruise from the Port of Palm Beach or go deep sea fishing or rent a boat. We’re a five minute ride to the east of Palm Beach’s famous Worth Avenue and the Flagler Museum.

View wildlife at Arthur Marshall Wildlife or Loxahatchee Wildlife Preserve. Go to the beach or stay home and relax in the pool. The possibilities in the Palm Beaches are endless with sunshine, our sparkling Atlantic Ocean and 45 miles of palm tree lined beaches. West Palm is 17 miles from Delray Beach, 37 miles to Ft. Lauderdale, and 47 miles to South Beach. Palm Tran train service is provided to these cities.

Discount designer label shops such as Marshall’s, TJ Maxx Ross for Less are 10-15 minutes by car. The Vero Beach Designer Outlet Mall including stores such as Coach, Ralph Lauren, Lenox, and Bombay Company to name a few is a 45 minute car trip to the north.
